Frequently Asked Questions

People visit websites for one reason and one reason only.

To get something.

That something may be information, a service or product. Either way they are looking for something. Since they are looking, it makes sense that someone would want to be found.

SEO helps bring your site to the attention of those that are searching for what you offer.

SEO changes as search engines change. But in general, good SEO takes into consideration these features of your website:

  1. The purpose of your website. We tell search engines what your purpose is with good titles and descriptions. They should be clear and to the point.
  2. We further explain the purpose of your website by using good heading structures, and clear content.
  3. Even images help when they are relevant and named well with good alt tags describing what the image is all about.
  4. In addition to your business type and services, we can help the search engines by speeding up your loading times.
  5. A sitemap can also help a search engine categorize your business more efficiently.
  6. If your site has a lot of pages that don’t really explain what you do concisely, we can limit their indexation with a robots.txt file. That way only your important pages show up in searches.
  7. To help your search listing stand out more we can add snippets. Featured items and authors, for instance, make great snippet subjects.
  8. To make sure you show up in local searches you should add your business to online directories like Yelp and Google’s Google My Business page. And make sure your phone number, email address, and address are the same across the board. A Google map also helps.
  9. Strive to get some good reviews and use them on your site and on your GMB page.

How is it different than marketing? In a lot of ways marketing and SEO are synonymous.

The goal of SEO is to increase the number of visitors to a website, and to have that website rank higher than others in the search results. Search engines like Google and Bing use complex algorithms to find the most relevant website for any given search. webopedia puts it this way:

“SEO helps to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the chances that the site will be found by the search engine.”

SEO is simple yet complex, just like chess. Such simple moves, but incredibly more complex when it all comes together for a win.

Overall your site should be:

  • Visible
  • Trustworthy
  • Provide for Your Customers
  • Quick
  • Attractive
  • Branded

helpful content (how can you better serve your customer)

Ask yourself, how can you better serve your customer? Your content should be an answer to that question. If you know your customer is going to want to know the difference between products, then tell them. If they want to know which one is the best, tell them that too. Just saying “shop now” doesn’t help them at all.

Responsive

Your site needs to be responsive. Let me say that again. Your site needs to be responsive. More people are viewing your site on their mobile devices then they are on a desktop. They are driving by your store and then looking you up online before they get home. Is your site prepared for that? If not, you can most likely fix this by just downloading a responsive theme for your WordPress site.

Phone number and address

One of the first fixes to your site could be to simply add your phone number to your site. Your business phone number needs to be visible and prominent. The phone number is not so much about making it so people can contact you, but so that they know they can contact you. They need to know you are a legitimate business. Businesses that hide their number appear to be avoiding their customers.

Improve your loading times

The quicker your site loads the better. For two reasons. One is that your customer is more likely to stick around and two it will increase what Google can crawl. Slow sites limit Google. Google only has one crawling speed. So if it takes too long to load your page won’t be indexed.

Some other things you can do to help your site is:

  1. Your phone number should be visible.
  2. Good Logo and Design. Keep colors and fonts consistent.
  3. Good titles.

Good website design will take into consideration who your site is trying to reach. The design will be marketed to that audience. The site will load as quickly as possible, be clear to understand and function as well as it looks.

If you are serious about your business you need to be serious about your site’s presence on the web. People aren’t coming to your website by accident. They are looking for what you have to offer them.

Poor site design can really hurt your first impression.  A professionally designed web site (or web page) can influence how many site visitors you get and how long they stay on your site.

Graphic design matters, because it can reflect how you and your brand do business, and ultimately how your clients and potential customers see and feel about you. If your site takes too long to load, nearly 40% of your potential customers will simply give up and go somewhere else. Just something as simple as keeping up with the current site design standards can increase your traffic a great deal.
